Stainless Steel is the basic material for cookware, after tens of years pf trial and error a crowd pleaser was invented, this is why:
Stainless steel cooking pots are not made only of steel (though heavy enough to seem so)!!! They are rather made from an alloy containing Chromium and Nickel (if technical stuff isn't for you- skip now to advantage no.1). The degree of Chromium and Nickel would be represented as 18/10 or 18/8 which is their percentage in the alloy (note that when the Nickel is 0 the pot isn't necessarily bad, but it is much less corrosion resistant, but since Nickel is very expensive, they should be cheaper), or by numbers from 301 (301 stainless steel has 16-18% Cr, and 6-8% Ni) to 316 (316 stainless steel, with 16-18% Cr, 10-14% Ni), and the difference is the corrosion resistance- 301 is a softer alloy than 316.

Advantage number 1:
Regarding the use of Stainless Steel cooking- it simply can't run out of fashionת just like little black dresses don't. It is the perfect cooking pot that should last many, many years. Stainless steel cooking pots are not coated, so there is nothing that can peel off, no matter how hard you mix the food, with any utensil you feel comfortable, or even burn the food in it. The metal is safe to use, there is nothing in the alloy that is a danger to your health and regardless of cooking temperature or time no chemicals are emitted from the cooking pot itself.
Advantage number 2.
It is easy to clean- no, it doesn't enjoy non stick qualities but, if food does stick than, filling the pot with boiling soapy water and waiting 15-20 minutes, should help cut down scraping time and, even in the worst case where excessive rubbing results in scratches- the alloy is safe, nothing has changed, the stainless steel cooking pot will not emit anything or absorb anything, so it may be less attractive (though I find age on cookware has its charm) it is as good to use, and there is no reason to waste money and replace the cooker.A tip about cleaning- there are good industrial cleaning materials out there and they don't cost much, but first try half a freshly cut lemon, the citric acid should make the stainless steel cooking pot glow.
Advantage number 3:
If the handles and lid are also made of Stainless steel than it should be safe for use in the oven or under a grill, and save you time and energy on transferring the dish from one casserole to another. You can store it in the fridge, freezer and put it right on the stove without any hesitation (Tip- when you buy it make sure the bottom part is "impact bonded" to the cooker and not just pressed on, a good store will know the difference) so it is practical as a cooker can be expected to be.
Tip:
When cooking in stainless steel, do not let it heat up when it is still empty, that tip is good for any type of cooking pot you use, regardless of the material from which it is made, and notice that the size of the heat source is smaller than the bottom part of the cooker so it won't heat up the handles or scorch the sides.
